Mom's Evergreen Lives on...
Mixed Medium on Paper
11 x 14
Through Gallery
This mixed Media piece went through many steps. First I created a cyanotype photogram using real natural found objects gathered from my garden. After arranging them on the prepared watercolor paper in what I hoped to be a pleasing composition, the paper with the items were sandwiched between two pieces of glass and exposed to sunlight. After exposure was completed, the items were removed and the paper underwent a water bath, revealing a monochromatic image of blues and white. After the paper was completely dry, then soft pastel was added to create more interest with additional colors to the piece. (The cloud images in the upper area of the picture are all made from pastel).
The title speaks of the fact that one of the plant sprigs that were used to make this, came originally from my my mom's house. I rescued a small three-inch sprout from a sidewalk crack, brought it home and planted it into my garden. In just a couple years time it grew up to become a tree which was taller than me! |
