Watercolors & IA Acrylics

Allowing her brush to dance and play on the paper, Jeanne attempts to pull the viewer into the world of her watercolor images. She contrasts light and dark values, soft and hard edges, and large and small shapes, to create interest in her plant-focused images.

Basic Acrylic Workshop Images

These images are some of the subjects which I teach in my beginner painting workshops.*

In each two-hour class, students learn some basic painting techniques and color theory, including:

How to properly hold a brush, and how to use it to create various textural effects.

How to use a palette knife

How to select colors to create depth, perspective and interest

... But most importantly,... Students will complete a 9x12" painting at each class!

(Schedules reflect a class choice among four categories: Landscape, Floral, Seascape, and Still Life)

*If you are interested in taking a class or two, you can check the "workshops" page on my blog for class schedule and more details.

Cyanotypes & Pastels

An alternative photographic process, sometimes referred to as "Sunprints," cyanotypes are images consisting of (usually) a deep Prussian blue color and the color of the paper. Many of Jeanne's Cyanotypes are unique, one-of-a-kind monoprints created using actual botanical subjects from nature like leaves and flower petals. These are referred to as "photograms." Others are made from film negatives that have been either created entirely by hand (drawing the images on clear film) or negatives that are (sometimes hand-altered) photographic images. Cyanotypes are exposed using nature's light, the sun. The images are developed individually in a water bath.
Often, Jeanne will create a cyanotype photogram, then add to it with other mediums (like pastels or colored pencils) to develop the image further and to make a more visually interesting piece.
